Most Murano Glass jewelry is crafted over small open flame from specially-made thin glass canes of various colors. This is called lampworking. The master holds and turns a cane with one hand under the flame, while shaping the molten glass at the end of the cane with the other hand. Murano Glass rings, earrings, pendants, beads and bracelets are crafted in the factories and workshops on Murano island in Venice using this method, and decorative accents such as gold and silver foil, avventurina, millefiori, and others are used to add unique features to the glass jewelry.
