From the workshops of world-famous Murano Glass masters comes this stunning Charm Bead, which will become an instant highlight of any charm collection. This Murano Glass bead with its rich copper sparkles and multicolor confetti pattern set against the shimmer of .925 Sterling Silver leaf is as gorgeous and unique as Venice itself. The rare beauty of this charm bead is the result of centuries of Murano artisans' hard work re-inventing and perfecting the complex glass-making techniques and methods that hail from as far back as ancient Egypt. On Murano Island in the Venetian Lagoon, away from the hustle and bustle of tourism, the masters create these beautiful delicate beads one-by-one over open flame. The color and pattern is not painted but achieved by the use of different minerals, including real gold, mixed into hot glass. While labor-intensive, this process means that the gorgeous colors will not fade and the sparkles will never go dull. The classic elegance combined with contemporary style make this bead a top choice for any charm necklace or bracelet and a great gift to anyone who loves the Italian style, Murano artistry, and flexibility of creating jewelry from charm beads.
Measurements: This Murano Glass bead has rondelle shape and measures slightly less than 5/8 inch in diameter and just over 3/8 inch in height. The diameter of the bead opening is 3/16 inch or 4 mm. The framing of the opening is made in solid 925 Sterling Silver. The words "Murano Italy" and the standard 925 Sterling Silver stamp are etched into the silver frame. The bead comes with an attractive velvet pouch and the certificate of authenticity.
This Murano Glass charm bead is compatible with Pandora, Chamilia, Biagi, Troll and other interchangeable bead systems.
Because each charm bead is made by hand, no two beads are exactly the same, and slight variations of colors and patterns are possible.

Workmanship

Infusing silver leaf in Murano Glass has been one of the secrets of Venetian glass-makers for centuries, allowing them to create luminous beautiful glass pieces that shimmer and glow from within. More recently Murano artisans have been creating jewelry with Murano Glass beads lined with silver leaf. To create each bead the master wraps a very thin layer of genuine silver leaf around the glass base under a flame, and then puts a layer of clear or colored glass on top. The silver-lined Murano Glass bead is then put into a special annealing camera, after which it is ready to be strung onto a necklace, a bracelet, or used to create earrings, or another jewelry piece. Enjoy your Murano Glass jewelry creation, knowing that every bead was carefully handmade by talented Murano Glass artisans in Venice, Italy.
