This adorable Murano Glass Squirrel was crafted entirely by hand in one of the oldest glassworks on Murano Island in Venice following ancient Millefiori glass-making technique. The fine details, the sparkling gold tail, and colorful mosaic pattern showcase all the features that Murano Glass is famous for. This beautiful squirrel is a result of a complicated multi-step process where liquid glass is blown, then hand-shaped, then wrapped into hundreds of colorful Murano Glass mosaic pieces along with 24K gold foil. In the special high-heat furnaces the mosaics fuse together and the 24K gold dusting melts within glass to create a gorgeous sparkling effect, the look of a magic fairy-tale quilt. Artistic, opulent and unique, this Murano Squirrel sculpture brings to life hundreds of years of Venetian artistic and cultural heritage. This unique piece will fill your home with colors and lights of Venice or will make a wonderful unique gift for the special people in your life. Remember: Murano Glass is unlike any other gift. It is a keepsake and a memento that will be treasured for generations.
Complement this Squirrel sculpture with other fine pieces from our Golden Quilt Millefiori Collection to create a consistent and elegant interior design theme.
Measurements: The Murano Squirrel measures just over 4 inches in length and 3 inches in width from the edge of the tail to the tips of the paws. It is very well packaged to avoid damage in transit and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Murano Glass Millefiori, also known as a thousand flowers, is a glass-making technique invented in ancient Egypt, perfected in ancient Rome, then forgotten and reinvented again on Murano island. Dipping a blob of hot malleable glass into pre-cut pieces of Millefiori made from a special millefiori cane, the master creates a design of a thousand flowers on the surface of the glass and then heats the glass again to fully bind the millefiori pieces to the surface. Often 24K gold foil is wrapped around the object and fused into it to create unique sparkly appearance with Millefiori design. The master then sits on the bench and works the hot glass to create the desired shape and design, repeatedly reheating the glass. This is how Murano Glass Millefiori figurines, sculptures, vases, bowls, and many other artistic objects are created by hand in Murano Glass factories.
