A symbol of intelligence and wisdom, our gorgeous Murano Glass Owl was blown by the Island's famous glass masters using a complex ancient Murano technique- Millefiori (a thousand flowers). A multi-step process is used to achieve this distinctive look. First, molten glass is blown and hand-shaped, then it is wrapped into hundreds of hand-selected colorful Murano Glass mosaic pieces with patterns inside, which are then fused together and dusted with 24K gold to give this glass Owl its artistic and opulent look. Elegant and unique, our Murano Owl sculpture offers a perfect way to accentuate your interior design with Venetian artistic heritage and Murano craftsmanship.
Our Millefiori Owl also makes a wonderful gift for any art lover and is very appropriate for special occasions such as wedding, graduation, retirement, anniversary, or birthday. Remember: a wonderful artistic gift of authentic Murano Glass is bound to become a family keepsake, which will treasured for generations. Complement this sculpture with other Murano Glass pieces from Golden Quilt Millefiori Collection for a well-coordinated look.

Measurements: The Murano Owl measures approximately 3 1/2 inches in height and 3 inches in width. It is very well packaged to avoid damage in transit and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Because each Murano Glass piece is a unique work of art made by hand, slight variations of colors, patterns, and shapes are possible.

Workmanship

Murano Glass Millefiori, also known as a thousand flowers, is a glass-making technique invented in ancient Egypt, perfected in ancient Rome, then forgotten and reinvented again on Murano island. Dipping a blob of hot malleable glass into pre-cut pieces of Millefiori made from a special millefiori cane, the master creates a design of a thousand flowers on the surface of the glass and then heats the glass again to fully bind the millefiori pieces to the surface. Often 24K gold foil is wrapped around the object and fused into it to create unique sparkly appearance with Millefiori design. The master then sits on the bench and works the hot glass to create the desired shape and design, repeatedly reheating the glass. This is how Murano Glass Millefiori figurines, sculptures, vases, bowls, and many other artistic objects are created by hand in Murano Glass factories.
