This artistic hand-blown Murano Glass fish is created in one of the most distinctive and labor-intensive Murano techniques- Millefiori (a thousand flowers). To achieve this look, small colorful pieces of glass mosaics with patterns inside are created first, then wrapped around the blown glass shape and fused together in special furnaces to create the unusual and festive Murano Glass pieces. Richly lined with genuine 24K gold foil, this Murano fish sculpture dazzles with its beautiful colors and sparkles in all lighting conditions.
A gorgeous reminder of the magic and beauty of Venice, this Murano Millefiori fish sculpture will become the focus of attention in any room of your house. It also makes a uniquely appropriate gift for special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, as it is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Pair it with other artistic pieces from Golden Quilt Millefiori Collection for a more striking effect.

Measurements: The Murano fish sculpture measures approximately 3.5 inches in height and 4.5 inches in length from tip of the nose to end of the elongated fin. It is very well packaged to avoid damage in transit and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

This Murano Glass sculpture is a part of Murano Glass Golden Quilt Millefiori Collection.

Because each item is a unique work of art made by hand, slight variations of colors and patterns are possible.

Workmanship

Murano Glass Millefiori, also known as a thousand flowers, is a glass-making technique invented in ancient Egypt, perfected in ancient Rome, then forgotten and reinvented again on Murano island. Dipping a blob of hot malleable glass into pre-cut pieces of Millefiori made from a special millefiori cane, the master creates a design of a thousand flowers on the surface of the glass and then heats the glass again to fully bind the millefiori pieces to the surface. Often 24K gold foil is wrapped around the object and fused into it to create unique sparkly appearance with Millefiori design. The master then sits on the bench and works the hot glass to create the desired shape and design, repeatedly reheating the glass. This is how Murano Glass Millefiori figurines, sculptures, vases, bowls, and many other artistic objects are created by hand in Murano Glass factories.
