This gorgeous Venetian Pitcher is a fine example of the most popular and distinctive Murano technique- Millefiori (a thousand flowers)- which was invented by Murano Glass masters centuries ago. Crafted on Murano entirely by hand, this carafe is created from hundreds of unique colorful millefiori pieces fused together under high temperature in a special furnace. The amazing look of millefiori glass is further enhanced by the exquisite form of the pitcher, which spells classic elegance and style. This Murano Glass pitcher or carafe works as a beautiful accent to your home decor or can be used as an impressive functional piece on your table to hold wine or other beverages. It also makes a uniquely appropriate gift for special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, or house warming parties.

This beautiful authentic Murano Glass carafe was painstakingly created by hand using only traditional glass-making methods by a third-generation Murano maestro, whose work is displayed at exhibitions, private collections, and in museums worldwide. This Murano pitcher is approximately 5 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter in its widest part. The capacity of the pitcher is 20 oz or .6 Liter. The pitcher has etched signature of the master on the side, an attached sticker that further proves its Murano origin, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Because each item is a unique work of art made by hand, slight variations of colors and patterns are possible.

Workmanship

To create Millefiori Murano Glass masters first need to cut special millefiori glass canes into tiny pieces, sort those pieces manually by color, and then use them in the glass-making process to achieve the unique Millefiori look of a thousand flowers. To make a Murano Glass pitcher, carafe, or decanter, the master gathers molten glass at the end of a special metal rod, then immerses it into bowls with color-sorted Millefiori pieces, making these pieces stick to the surface. The piece consisting of the layer of molten glass covered with a layer of millefiori beads is then heated up in the furnace, making the two layers fuse and creating the Millefiori pattern on the surface of the art glass object. The object is then re-heated and formed by the master using basic instruments such as pliers and scissors to get the desired pitcher shape.
