What's more romantic than gliding on a gondola along famed Venetian canals and being surrounded by magnificent palaces amid reflections of the Venetian Republic's glorious past? Enjoy a glimpse of the quintessential Venetian experience with this exquisitely crafted black Murano Glass gondola flanked by two characteristic brightly colored mooring poles that you can see all throughout Venice. The rowing gondolier standing on the back of the gondola with his one oar completes the picture of the legendary Venetian boat that came to us all the way from the middle ages and remained practically unchanged. This fine handcrafted Murano Glass gondola is a lovely souvenir and wonderful gift to those who love and miss Venice and to all the romantics at heart.
Measurements: the gondola measures just under 4-1/2 inches in length and the height from the base to the top of the mooring poles is about 3 inches.
Made entirely by hand in a traditional Murano workshop by a family that has been making Murano Glass for several generations.
The sculpture comes well packaged to avoid damage in transit and comes with the certificate of authenticity.

The mooring poles vary in color according the fantasy of the artisan, but they will always feature bright rich colors reflecting the Venetian tradition. Because each Murano Glass piece is a unique work of art made by hand, some variations of colors and patterns are possible.

Workmanship

Lampworking technique of glass-making, which dates back to ancient Egypt, was revived by Murano glass artisans around the fourteenth century. This technique is based on heating up a blob of glass under a small flame from a lamp or a torch until it reaches malleable state, then blowing and using simple tools or just hands to create various forms and designs. Lampworking allows the artisan's creativity to blossom, as copper sparkles, various minerals, and pieces of glass cane are fused together in this process to create rich colors and imaginative patterns that are always unique. Murano Glass masters often use lampworking method to create small jewelry, such as pendants, earrings, or rings, as well as keychains, barrettes, pillboxes, and figurines.
