Venice has been known for ages as the city of romance and love, with its timeless symbol, the gondola, epitomizing the enchantment and mystery of La Serenissima. This slender black gondola was designed and crafted by Murano Glass artisans with rare skills and passion for their ancient craft and their gorgeous city. On one side of the gondola is an elegant red heart, ferried along by the gondolier with his single oar, creating the allegory of love, devotion, and passion tied to the romance of Venice. This Murano Glass gondola sculpture is a perfect gift to those who love and treasure their memories of Venice. It makes a beautiful symbolic present to your loved ones, and will no doubt please all romantics at heart.
  • Measurements: the gondola measures about 9 inches in length and the maximum height is about 4 inches.
  • This gondola figurine is handmade in a traditional Murano workshop by an artisan family that has been making Murano Glass for generations.
  • The gondola is well packaged to avoid damage in transit and comes with the certificate of authenticity.
  • The mooring poles may vary in color according the fantasy of the artisan, but they will always feature rich colors reflecting the glassmaking tradition.
  • Because each Murano Glass piece is a unique work of art made by hand, some variations of colors and patterns are possible.

On this very day, 1 year ago, my husband and I exchanged vows in a gondola as we floated through the canals in Venice. During our time there, I did not have the opportunity to shop ‘secretly’ for a memento of our special day, but was hoping that I could somehow find the ‘perfect’ item online…and I did ! The gondola is beautifully cut and arrived in perfect condition. Everything hoped for & more ❣️

It's beautiful but arrived broken. I took a picture of it and sent it to Glass Of Venice who are promptly sending out another one. This was a small 45 year anniversary gift as out trip to Italy was canceled due to the pandemic

I bought this for my daughter to remind her of our trip to Venice and our gondola ride. We also went through a Murano Glass Factory on this trip. We loved every minute of this trip so this item is something I felt she would like as a reminder of the time we enjoyed so much.

Workmanship

Lampworking technique of glass-making, which dates back to ancient Egypt, was revived by Murano glass artisans around the fourteenth century. This technique is based on heating up a blob of glass under a small flame from a lamp or a torch until it reaches malleable state, then blowing and using simple tools or just hands to create various forms and designs. Lampworking allows the artisan's creativity to blossom, as copper sparkles, various minerals, and pieces of glass cane are fused together in this process to create rich colors and imaginative patterns that are always unique. Murano Glass masters often use lampworking method to create small jewelry, such as pendants, earrings, or rings, as well as keychains, barrettes, pillboxes, and figurines.
