This Murano Glass Bell is a beautiful piece of Murano Glass Art created in ancient Millefiori technique. Made to imitate rich mosaic patterns that used to grace Venetian palaces and churches, Murano Millefiori designs are artistic, unique, and very Venetian. Swirling stylized flowers on rich aqua blue background generously lined with 24K gold create an impression of a gorgeous regal throw. The unusual and festive look of Millefiori Glass combined with deep colors and classic form make this Murano Glass Bell an instant conversation piece. This Venetian Bell also makes a uniquely appropriate gift for Christmas and special occasions, such as weddings, baptisms, birthdays, or anniversaries, as it is truly a one-of-a-kind authentic piece of art.
Measurements: The bell is 4 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches in diameter of the base. It is made by experienced Murano Glass artisans in Venice according to the centuries-old glass-making techniques, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Because each Murano Glass piece is a unique work of art made by hand, slight variations of colors and patterns are possible.
Murano Glass Millefiori, also known as a thousand flowers, is a glass-making technique invented in ancient Egypt, perfected in ancient Rome, then forgotten and reinvented again on Murano island. Dipping a blob of hot malleable glass into pre-cut pieces of Millefiori made from a special millefiori cane, the master creates a design of a thousand flowers on the surface of the glass and then heats the glass again to fully bind the millefiori pieces to the surface. Often 24K gold foil is wrapped around the object and fused into it to create unique sparkly appearance with Millefiori design. The master then sits on the bench and works the hot glass to create the desired shape and design, repeatedly reheating the glass. This is how Murano Glass Millefiori figurines, sculptures, vases, bowls, and many other artistic objects are created by hand in Murano Glass factories.
