This exquisite Murano Glass pocket makeup mirror is a perfect Venetian accessory for any stylish woman. Showcasing the most popular Murano Glass technique - Millefiori (a thousand flowers), this folding mirror was created on Murano entirely by hand from hundreds of little glass mosaic pieces arranged carefully into a beautiful pattern. Grab this exquisite Venetian makeup mirror any time you are on-the-go, put it into your purse or your pocket, and get ready to hear compliments whenever you take it out. Or make this Murano mirror a memorable gift from Venice to a special woman in your life. The folding mirror features Millefiori top and shiny durable silver-plated finish. It opens up to reveal two high-quality round mirrors. The mirror is easy to open with a click of a button and it closes easily and securely. There is no millefiori design on the bottom. Please note that due to the features of Millefiori technique, the pattern can never be repeated, it is created anew every time, limited only by the fantasy of the master. However, every Millefiori mirror will have a splash of many rich colors illustrated on the photo, which is the signature look of Millefiori design.
Measurements: The folded mirror measures 2 3/4 inch in diameter and fits well into any purse. This Murano Glass Millefiori mirror comes with a velvet pouch and a certificate of authenticity.
Because each item is a unique work of art made by hand, slight variations of colors and patterns are possible.

Compact is absolutely beautiful. My original purchase in Venice broke and I wanted a replacement. This compact is even more beautiful than the one I originally purchased. Until I can get back to Italy, I'm looking forward to making more purchases with Glass of Venice.

Workmanship
The technique of fusing together small colored fragments of glass dates all the way back to Ancient Egypt and Rome. After the fall of Rome, having been lost for centuries, this intricate technique was reinvented by Murano glass masters in the 15th century, and given new life and worldwide fame. While this technique is called "Murrine" on Murano island, outside of Venice it was dubbed "Millefiori", or "a thousand flowers" for its resemblance to a blossoming meadow. A Millefiori design starts with the rods of different colors, each made by stretching a blob of glass into a cane. These canes are then cut into small segments, and the segments are carefully arranged by hand into a pattern that fits within a desired shape. Finally, the resulting arrangement is put into a special furnace where the tiny glass pieces are carefully fused together in high heat, and then gradually cooled off. This is how Murano masters create their famous Millefiori pendants, earrings, cufflinks, pill boxes, paperweights and many other beautiful and unique Millefiori jewelry pieces that are instantly recognized and valued for their artistic appeal and fine craftsmanship. Enjoy your Murano Glass jewelry creation, knowing that it was carefully handmade by talented Murano Glass artisans in Venice, Italy.
